Summer Eucalyptus

12"x 12" oil NFS

This painting was awarded a 2nd place in the SOCALPAPA summer online competition. We had a morning quick draw at Doheny. I painted the guys playing volleyball, knocked over my turps jar, forgot the paper towels so had to borrow napkins from people picnicking nearby. There were dozens of questions and of course the light changed from very overcast to bright sunshine just to mess with my composition but that's why we paint plein-air. It's challenging and when we get a good one, it really means something.

oh, the colors in this one are so beautiful! I particularly love the golds and, hm, lavenders (?) on the land, they really sing together :)
